Connor Martin's brother, veteran and athlete Kevin Ash, had sustained blast injuries during his deployments. When he returned to the States he sought the comradery of military service by joining a rugby team, a family sport. Unfortunately, a simple tackle resulted in a coma and significant large term effects.

He was in an induced coma for I believe six weeks-ish and then it was very slow for him coming out of that. And it started you know with the finger grasps and the blinking and slow movements. And then slowly we discovered that couldn’t see, we discovered that he couldn’t hear. And then just progress was very slow, and then slowly started moving around a little bit more, he was able to stand up with help and just slowly the voice came back but very clearly he was not there. He had some very serious side effects from this accident. This video was produced by BrainLine thanks to generous support from the Infinite Hero Foundation.
