Polytrauma - VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare Center

The West Los Angeles Polytrauma Network Site in the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System is one of 23 facilities in the country designed to provide long-term rehabilitative care to Veterans and Servicemembers who experienced severe injuries (including brain injuries) to more than one organ system.  Their Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PM&RS) is a program concerned with evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with limited function as a consequence of disease, injury, impairment, and/or activity limitation. Emphasis is placed on maximal restoration of the physical, psychological, social, and vocational functions of the person, on the maintenance of health and the prevention of secondary complications to activity limitation and on the alleviation of pain. PM&RS, a national VA Program of Excellence, provides comprehensive rehabilitation services along a continuum of care from ambulatory and acute to long term care.
