Burke Rehabilitation Center offers an inpatient Brain Injury Recovery program, as well as outpatient services, including occupational, physical, and speech therapies. Patients may be candidates for outpatient services if they have experienced loss of function due to injury or illness. Adults with speech, language, or swallowing disorders may also be candidates for these services. A referral, stating diagnosis and type of therapy prescribed, is required from the patient's physician. Once the referral is received, we will conduct financial screening to determine insurance coverage. The Burke Rehabilitation Hospital participates in a variety of insurance plans.
Each patient's program is tailored to meet his or her needs by integrating several different disciplines, including physical, occupational, respiratory, speech/language and recreation therapies; specialty medicine; nursing; case management/social work and appropriate specialty services as needed.
Group discussions and individual counseling sessions help patients and family members adjust to circumstances resulting from physical disability, and prepare for a new way of life. The majority of Burke Rehabilitation Hospital’s patients return to their homes or communities after discharge. Care may continue through Burke Hospital’s Outpatient department.
