Brain Injury Association of Ohio

The Brain Injury Association of Ohio (BIAOH) is a statewide advocacy and education organization whose mission is to improve services and supports for Ohioans with brain injury and their families, and to promote prevention. BIAOH comprises brain injury survivors, family members, friends and professionals who promote better understanding, rehabilitation opportunities, and lifelong community supports for people living with brain injury.  BIAOH runs a community support network, a helpline, hosts events, and offers training programs and support groups.

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center

The Inpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center admits seven to eight children every month. The Center treats children with traumatic brain injury and related complications, including: behavioral, post-concussion syndrome, cognitive deficits, heterotopic ossification (heterotopic bone formation), pressure sores, constipation, and muscle spasticity.

Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation

The Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation offers both an inpatient program and outpatient rehabilitation and therapy services for children's chronic conditions, and others recovering from a trauma, surgery, or an acute hospital stay. It serves infants and children through age 18.

Community Hospitals & Wellness Centers, Montpelier Hospital

CHWC Montpelier Hospital's Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is a ten-bed intensive therapy program. Patients receive three to five hours of interdisciplinary therapy each day, and typically stay in the unit for one to four weeks. The Inpatient Rehabilitation staff includes a full-time physiatrist, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, recreational therapists, rehabilitation nurses, a neuropsychologist, case managers, social workers, and counselors.

Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Center (Akron General)

The Edwin Shaw Rehab's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Unit offers Inpatient and Outpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation Programs for patients age 18 and older. Adolescent patients below age 18 will be considered for admission if it is determined that he/she can be properly cared for by the Hospital’s staff. A physician specializing in brain injury leads a team of nurses, therapists and other professionals in assessing the patient's strength and sensory status.

The Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation conducts research, provides education, and develops programs to improve the quality of life of persons who experience traumatic brain injury (TBI). Ohio State University Medical Center Rehabilitation Services

OSU Medical Center’s brain injury rehabilitation program provides inpatient and outpatient services. The team includes physicians, certified rehabilitation nurses, occupational and physical therapists, speech language pathologists, social workers, psychologists and other specialists. Specialized therapies address orientation, memory, communication and behavior. Patients focus on regaining lost skills and compensating for the skills he/she cannot recover.  Treatment plans are individualized.

Ohio State University Medical Center, Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza

One of several outpatient care locations, Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza is located just west of the OSU campus. The Plaza provides outpatient rehabilitation services for adolescents and adults with a variety of conditions, ranging from fractures and lower back pain to complex spinal cord and brain injuries. In addition to physician offices, Morehouse Medical Plaza includes diagnostic services, such as X-ray and labs. The OSU Center for Wellness and Prevention is also at this location.

The SOMC Neuro Rehab Department offers an interdisciplinary rehabilitation program for patients recovering from TBI. The program focuses on cognitive retraining and community reintegration.
