Mark “Chaps” Schimmelpfennig is the Staff Chaplain at the Rush University Medical Center Road Home Program, Center of Excellence for Veterans and Families. He provides spiritual care and counseling specializing in PTSD recovery and moral injury repair to the veterans and families in all of the Road Home's programs which include Combat Veteran, Military Sexual Trauma, and Outpatient programs. Mark is also participating in pilot programs that provide trauma-informed care and moral injury repair to members of the Rush Healthcare team as well as suicide prevention programs for first responders. Mark received his Masters of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, in 2009. Mark completed Chaplaincy programs at both Rush University and Northwestern hospitals.
Mark is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
