The brain injury program at Covenant, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and Health Facilities Accreditation Program, offers inpatient treatment for adults and adolescents (ages 14+). The program treats any of the following conditions:
• Brain injury
• Aneurysm
• Seizure
• Brain infection (encephalitis, meningitis )
• Metabolic disorders (diabetic coma, insulin shock)
• Toxic exposure (substance abuse, toxic agent inhalation
• Lack of oxygen
• Viral illness
• Multiple trauma (fractures, burns)
Covenant treatment services include speech therapy, occupational therapy, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, physical therapy, recreational therapy, and neuropsychological assessments. Social work and counseling is also provided, as well as discharge planning and follow-up support. Covenant offers inpatient and outpatient programs, as well as a Transitional Care Unit. The latter provides short-term, medical and physical rehabilitation to high-acuity patients who are medically stable, but not yet strong enough to care for themselves.
