The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program provides services from initial trauma, through medical and physical rehabilitation, behavioral retraining and on to community re-entry. Individual patients are cared for by a team of health professionals (therapists, nurses, case manager, social worker, psychologist, respiratory, urology) who work together with the patient and family in the rehabilitation process. The extent of the head injury will largely determine the degree to which a patient regains his or her functional abilities. The treatment goal is to restore each patient to the fullest potential in self-sufficiency and independence. To achieve the treatment goal, the team assists patients in pursuing all aspects of rehabilitation: physical, social, cognitive and emotional.The Journey to Recovery Program is designed to help patients with severe brain injuries. If these injuries are not treated in a specialized program that is staffed with experienced medical professionals, patients can develop serious problems. These problems may lead to surgery, pain and discomfort, bedsores, and even permanent damage.
